MEMORIES OF 2015

memories, 2015

It seems like a year goes by so fast.  I cannot believe we are going into 2016 already.  Where did 2015 go?  I wanted to reflect through the memories of 2015 before I give in and move on.

The memories I have from 2015 are a mixture of ones that involve my career, my family and friends.

I am such a computer illiterate person but decided to start a grandparent  blog.  I have watched a million videos and taught myself a lot of things but I have so much more to learn.  Although, I have not mastered doing my blog, I have met some wonderful people doing this.  I enjoy reading the other grandparent blogs and talking with the people that write them.
In February I retired as an RN.  I had worked for 43 years and just wanted to enjoy some time doing other things. I have had more free time to attend my grandchildren’s activities and help run them to Dr appointments or pick them up from school.
Life is wonderful after retirement and I recommend it to everyone!     Here is the post I did on mine.
My husband was going to turn 60 in May so for the past 2 years I had been working on planning him a big party at a lake resort that we love to go to.  I had never even designed invitations, let alone planned a party that seemed like a wedding, but was pleased with the end result.  This was so much fun. Here is the post I did on the party.
In July, my father-in-law passed away and was missed a lot this year.  My husband and his brothers got together and relived the memories they had of him and the years they spent together at their hunting cabin.
I love to cook and bake and enter recipe contests.  I did not really enter any contests this year but have some recipes on here that I have created.  See my Recipe Index at top of blog for a few of them. memories-of-2015
I started doing cooking classes for my grandchildren and that was a fun experience.  Here is a post I did on that.  and Here.strawberry-mascarpone-hazelnut-choc-tart-spreadhaoween candy bags, halloween cupcakes, halloween treats02001210868202_10205645519365263_6940488752577523629_n56

On December 28th my husband had a Total Shoulder Replacement so we will be spending the next few months doing rehab and healing from this.
As I reflect on 2015, I did have a wonderful year with my family and friends.
I usually set the same goals each year and I fail at the same ones.  I need to lose some weight and increase my exercise program (doing any is an increase), I want to improve my blog, enter some recipe contests again, and get my house better organized.
The most important goal is to spend more time with my family and those I love.
I want to live each day to its fullest and to appreciate the blessings from God.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME TODAY AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

  1. I am glad you started blogging and I am going to go read some of the important ones I’ve missed! Now about that exercise — may I highly recommend getting a Fitbit? There are quite a few of us grandmas who use them and you would be amazed how motivating they are! Plus, it is fun beating the younger moms!

    1. One of my daughters gave me a Fitbit last Mother’s Day and I do use it. You are right that it is fun to beat the young mommys!! haha. I usually do around 12,000 steps a day but never lose weight or inches. I better figure the food in on it…maybe this year.

  2. I am so glad you joined the grandma-blogger community! Your posts are interesting, sweet, and full of ideas to imitate for an engaging grandparenting experience! There’s nothing like providing seasonal fun for the kids when you’re retired and can do all the planning that parents are too busy to handle. Everybody appreciates the fun!
Happy New Year, Pamela! I’ll be here for every post you write in 2016!

    1. Thank you!! You are so kind and encouraging. I have learned so much from others and feel like I have made many new friends.

  3. One of the best things about blogging is being able to look back at what you did the previous year. It’s like the olden days when we kept a diary!
