PASTA MEAT SAUCE
A thick meaty, sauce with sweet italian sausage, ground beef, onions, peppers, garlic, tomatoes, seasonings, and jarred pasta sauces.

- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
- 1 Tablespoon garlic minced
- 2 Tablespoons fresh basil chopped
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb sweet italian sausage
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon coarse black pepper
- 1 cup green bell peppers diced
- 1/2 cup red bell peppers diced
- 1 cup sweet onions chopped
- 1 14.5oz can diced tomatoes
- 1 Tablespoon sugar
- 2 24oz each jars pasta sauce (prefer Classico)
In a large dutch oven, heat the oil with garlic and basil over a medium heat.
Crumble and brown the ground beef and italian sausage in the pan. Drain grease. Season with salt and pepper.
Add the peppers and onions, cook for 5 minutes.
Stir in the tomatoes and sugar, cook another 5 minutes.
Add the jars of pasta sauce and combine ingredients well.
Cover and simmer over a low heat about an hour, stirring frequently. May use sauce at this time or allow to set longer for flavors to blend better.
Serve over favorite pasta. Leftover amount will freeze very well.
