HALLOWEEN FUN-DUE BOARD

This “Halloween Fun-due” board is so perfect to serve at a Halloween party, or any get together. I created this for some of my grandchildren for lunch one day.

Halloween Fun-Due board is loaded with kid friendly appetizers and cheese dips.

It is a Halloween themed food board with 2 cheese dips, surrounded by a variety of easy to prepare, kid friendly, dippers. At my Walmart, I found the cutest little salsa bowls, that looked like mini cauldrons to place on my Halloween Fun-Due Board.

I purchased a queso sauce, prepared a cheese sauce, and baked the frozen foods that I was using as dippers.

The Dollar Tree stores have so much Halloween decor that you could pick up all of the things you need there. Here is the equipment that I used:

Halloween party tray

2 mini salsa bowls

Halloween cookie cutters

Halloween toothpicks

Halloween decorations

Baking pan

Parchment paper

For the food, I purchased the appetizer type things that my grandchildren like.  I also used cookie cutters to make different shapes out of crescent dough.

INGREDIENTS:

1 refrigerated pie crust

1 roll refrigerated crescent dough (dough sheets work best when available)

1/2 package cocktail wieners

8 frozen chicken tenders

1 cup frozen potato rounds (or tater tots)

8 frozen taquitos

1 cup frozen curly fries

1 cup french bread, cut in cubes

1-2 cups tortilla chips

1/4 cup chicken broth

1/4 garlic clove, diced

1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 Tablespoon cornstarch

8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

2 oz swiss cheese, shredded

2 cups queso white cheese (purchased)

HOW TO MAKE THE HALLOWEEN FUN-DUE BOARD:

Prepare the dippers first. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Unroll the pie crust and cut shapes out with cookie cutters. Unroll the can of crescent dough. Using half of it, cut shapes out with cookie cutters. Cut the remaining half into strips and wrap around the cocktail wieners. Place all of the cut outs and the cocktail wieners on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Bake until doughs are light golden brown, about 7-10 minutes.

Place all of the frozen foods ( chicken tenders, potato rounds, taquitos, fries) onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake until golden brown and crispy. About 10 minutes.

Prepare the cheese sauce. In a small non stick saucepan, whisk together the chicken broth, garlic, dry mustard, and worcestershire sauce. Heat over medium heat until it comes to a low boil. Reduce heat to simmer and whisk in the heavy cream.

In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch with both cheeses. Add the cheese to saucepan, in 3 parts, whisking continuously. Whisk until smooth and cheese is all melted.

Heat the queso cheese in a microwave safe bowl or small saucepan.

Serve on Halloween plates and watch your little ones (and big kids) enjoy.

Another easy idea that I have done with my grandchildren is to make these cute HALLOWEEN TREAT BAGS.
