Garlic Parmesan Cheese Dip…a hot, creamy dip of melted cream cheese, minced garlic, whipping cream and parmesan cheese. Cubes of bread as dippers will make you think of a fondue.
This Garlic Parmesan Cheese Dip is the one appetizer you will want to serve at any get together. I have been making this for about 3 years, and always get the most compliments on it.
It is easy to make and serves a large crowd. I have served it at 2 baby showers, a bridal shower, a wedding, and 2 tailgate parties. This dip will be on my holiday appetizer table this year.
Another great thing about this dip is that you can serve it at a formal event, or in a more casual atmosphere.
INGREDIENTS:
Cream Cheese
Minced Garlic (from a jar or fresh)
Heavy Whipping Cream
Parmesan Cheese (freshly shredded)
French or Italian Bread Cubes
Crackers
Bread Sticks
Bagel Chips
HOW TO MAKE GARLIC PARMESAN CHEESE DIP:
CROCKPOT:
Spray the inside of a 6 qt crockpot with no stick cooking spray.
Place cream cheese, garlic, and 2 cups of the heavy whipping cream into the crockpot. Cook on high for 1 hour.
Stir in the parmesan cheese and 1 additional cup of the heavy cream. May continue to cook on high for 2 hours, or if preferred, may cook on low for 4 hours. (Time may vary with different crockpots) After the cheeses are melted, turn crockpot on warm.
Stir frequently until cheeses are all melted and smooth. The cheese dip will thicken as it cooks and as it cools. Add the remaining whipping cream and stir well when it becomes too thick to dip.
Arrange a tray of french (or italian) bread cubes, bagel chips, crackers, tostitos, and bread sticks in front of the crockpot.
This dip can also be made in a chafing dish to serve as a more elegant appetizer. There are 2 different ways to prepare it.
Lightly spray the inside of the chafing dish with no stick cooking spray.
(1) Spray the inside of a large saucepan or dutch oven with no stick cooking spray. Add the cream cheese, garlic, parmesan cheese, and 3 cups of the whipping cream. Cook over a very low heat, stirring almost constantly until the cheeses are melted and smooth. Stir in the remaining 1 cup of heavy cream, carefully pour the cheese dip into the chafing dish. Light the fuel underneath on low, and stir occasionally. This is the quickest way to prepare. It can actually be prepared ahead of time and rewarmed in the chafing dish.
This is the method I prefer.
(2) Place the ingredients into the chafing dish, light fuel under the chafing dish on low. Stir frequently until melted and smooth. This will take a lot longer to prepare.
Finally, this Garlic Parmesan Cheese Dip deserves to be served at a football party. I serve it in my crockpot, but it can be prepared ahead of time, transported to a game, and warmed over a very low heat on the grill in an aluminum pan.
Smoky Sausage Pimento Cheese Dip is another recipe your guest and family will love.
