Hot Pimento Sausage Dip

Hot Pimento Sausage Dip is a creamy, cheesy, slightly spicy appetizer made with sausage, bacon, pimentos, jalapeños, and sharp cheddar cheese. It is baked until hot and bubbly and is perfect served with crackers, chips, bread, or fresh vegetables.

If you love pimento cheese, you are going to love this warm and hearty version. The combination of creamy cheese, savory sausage, smoky bacon, and a little heat makes this an irresistible game day appetizer.

Football season always means having plenty of snacks around our house. We love pimento cheese spread, and that was my inspiration for creating this Hot Pimento Sausage Dip.

I like that I can adjust the heat depending on who I am serving. Use hot sausage and extra jalapeño for a spicy dip, or use regular sausage and less jalapeño for a milder version.

This is an easy appetizer to prepare for football parties, tailgating, holiday gatherings, or any time you need a hot dip that will feed a crowd.

HOW TO MAKE HOT PIMENTO SAUSAGE DIP:

  • Spicy ground sausage
  • Cream cheese
  • Sharp cheddar cheese
  • Jarred pimentos
  • Jalapeño
  • Mayonnaise

Choice of Dippers

  • Tortilla chips
  • Corn chips
  • Crackers
  • Toasted baguette slices
  • Sliced bread
  • Celery sticks
  • Bell pepper strips
  • Pretzels

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess grease. Cook the bacon until crisp, then crumble it.

2. Place the cream cheese, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, pimentos, cooked bacon, jalapeño, cooked sausage, and mayonnaise in a large mixing bowl.

Stir by hand or use an electric mixer until the ingredients are well combined.

If the mixture seems too thick to stir easily, add a little additional mayonnaise.

3. Spray a medium baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Spread the dip mixture evenly into the dish. (I use a 1-quart baking dish, which holds about 4 cups of dip.)

4. Bake at 350°F for about 20–25 minutes, or until the dip is hot and the cheese is melted. Give the dip a good stir before serving.

5. Serve warm with dippers.

A Fun Bread Idea for Serving this Hot Pimento Sausage Dip

When I make this dip for a football gathering, I sometimes make a loaf of bread to serve alongside it.

bread tubesbread tubesbread tubes

I have bread tubes that I purchased from Pampered Chef many years ago. They are fun for making different shapes of bread.

To make the bread, spray the inside and ends of the bread tube with nonstick cooking spray. Place refrigerated Italian bread dough into the tube according to the manufacturer’s directions and bake at 350°F until the bread is cooked through and golden.

Allow it to cool before removing it from the tube and slicing.

The slices make a delicious dipper for this hot pimento sausage dip.
