BBQ Chicken and Cheddar Wontons
BBQ Chicken and Cheddar Wontons are Twin Dragon wonton wrappers filled with cooked chicken, bbq sauce and cheddar cheese. They are deep fried and served with bbq sauce and ranch dressing.
These tasty wontons are my second entry in the game day category of the TWIN DRAGON ASIAN WRAPPER RECIPE CONTEST. I was sent packages of their wonton and egg roll wrappers to create appetizers in holiday and game day categories.
These wonton wrappers are vegan, non-gmo, and have no preservatives. They need to be refrigerated, but can also be frozen and thawed in the refrigerator. I found that they were so easy to work with. They separate easily and stay sealed with just a small amount of water on the edges.
To create this recipe, combine finely chopped cooked chicken (I used rotisserie chicken) in a bowl with bbq sauce and cheddar cheese.
Place wontons wrappers on a flat surface. I did 6 at a time. Place 1 heaping teaspoon of filling in the center of wrapper, spread filling slightly in the shape of a small log. Using fingertips, lightly wet the edges of wrapper. Roll up like a log, pressing edges sealed.
Fry in heated oil for about 3 minutes until golden brown. Place on a paper towel lined plate to drain any grease. I did notice that there was hardly any grease when these were fried.
Arrange the BBQ Chicken and Cheddar Wontons onto serving platter. Serve with BBQ sauce and ranch dressing.
BBQ CHICKEN AND CHEDDAR WONTONS
Ingredients
- 1 cup cooked chicken rotisserie chopped finely
- 1/2 cup bbq sauce
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 24 TWIN DRAGON WONTON WRAPPERS
- water
- 4 cups vegetable oil for frying
- 3/4 cup BBQ sauce for dipping
- 3/4 cup ranch dressing for dipping
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the chicken, bbq sauce, and cheese.
- Separate 24 wonton wrappers and lay on a flat work surface. (I did 6 at a time). Place about 1 teaspoon of the filling onto center of the wonton. Gently spread it in a log shape in the center. Moisten the edges of wrapper with water. Roll wonton up like a log. Press to seal. Close ends and seal.
- Heat oil in a skillet or pan to 350 degrees F. Fry about 3 or 4 of the wontons at a time, until golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel lined plate to drain any grease.
- Transfer to a serving platter, and serve warm with bbq sauce and ranch dressing.
